In this work, I turn to the stories of girls and women during wartime who have experienced the loss of home, a safe and familiar environment, and a sense of stability. I am deeply moved by the fragility of inner balance, and at the same time by the extraordinary resilience that emerges in the most difficult circumstances.
The swallow is a migratory bird that often builds its nests under the roofs of houses in Ukraine. Each year it flies to warmer countries for the winter and returns in the spring. If the nest remains intact, the swallow settles back into it. If it has been destroyed, the bird builds a new one.
In my home in Ukraine, there were many such nests, and every spring we waited for the swallows to return. Now we ourselves are like those swallows, hoping that one day we will see home again.
