October is just around the corner, and it’s one of the most exciting months in Farnham — Farnham Craft Month.
I’m delighted to invite you to a special pop-up exhibition celebrating the work of seven artists, including an evening of conversation, in which I’ll also be taking part. I’ll be presenting a new series of oil paintings.
Join us for the Private View, where the artists will talk about their work, creative processes, inspirations, and the practical realities of being an artist, offering a glimpse behind the finished artwork and into the stories and ideas that shape it.

INSIDE THE WORK
This time, I’d like to tell you the story behind a painting that will be on view in Farnham during Craft Month.
Youth
In this work, through a double portrait, I wanted to convey the joy of youth and the feeling of an open universe, a time when life seems endless and every horizon feels within reach. The painting is also a reflection on tender closeness and trust.
This piece was inspired by my son and our dog, Rosie. We originally brought Rosie into our family as a companion for the children shortly before the war. After everything we have experienced together, our relationship with her has deepened into one of respect, attachment, unconditional love, and gratitude.
Rosie is a true companion, and being in the bomb shelters when the war began was extremely difficult for her. She sensed our emotions and became restless and agitated. At night, when we spent a week sleeping on pallets covered with jackets, she warmed my feet and those of the children.
Rosie endured a five-day journey from Kharkiv to Bulgaria and then from Bulgaria to England, adapting to constant change, unfamiliar homes, and new environments, as long as she remained close to her family.
During the children’s challenging adaptation to life in another country, she tirelessly brought them comfort and a sense of emotional stability. Being close to her and learning to understand her character and individuality has been a profound and transformative experience.
And if you can’t make it to Farnham this time, my next exhibitions are planned for Kyiv in November and London in January.
